FAQs

The INDICAID® RESPIRATORY 12-in-1 Rapid Antigen Test is a rapid test that quickly detects 12 common respiratory viruses (COVID-19, Flu A&B, RSV, ADV, MP, PIV I&III, PIV II, HMPV, HRV, BOV and BP) that might be responsible for your flu, cough or cold-like symptoms, allowing you to receive the appropriate treatment in time and reduce risk of complications.

Although COVID-19, Flu A&B, RSV, ADV, MP, PIV I&III, PIV II, HMPV, HRV, BOV and BP share similar symptoms, incl. fever, chills, cough, sore throat, and runny nose etc., different treatments are required. Correctly identifying the virus that is responsible for your symptoms can enable access to the appropriate treatment, reducing risk to you and your family’s health.

This multiplex respiratory test uses a multi‑target design. Add 3 drops of solution into each circular sample wells; the sample and reagent generate signals within independent reaction areas to simultaneously detect multiple pathogens. Each test window displays result lines for 1 to 3 corresponding viruses or bacteria. This design lets you cover multiple common pathogens with a single sample, improving testing efficiency and accuracy while reducing the need for repeat tests.

The INDICAID® RESPIRATORY 12-in-1 Rapid Antigen Test has an overall 99% accuracy:

  • CoV: Accuracy: 99.5% Sensitivity: 95.2%, Specificity: 99.9%
  • Flu A: Accuracy: 99.6% Sensitivity: 96.7%, Specificity: 99.9%
  • Flu B: Accuracy: 99.5% Sensitivity: 95.6%, Specificity: 99.9%
  • RSV: Accuracy: 99.5% Sensitivity: 96.9%, Specificity: 99.7%
  • ADV: Accuracy: 99.5% Sensitivity: 98.4%, Specificity: 99.6%
  • MP: Accuracy: 99.3% Sensitivity: 95.9%, Specificity: 99.6%
  • PIV I / II / III: Accuracy: 99.3% Sensitivity: 95.3%, Specificity: 99.6%
  • HMPV: Accuracy: 99.4% Sensitivity: 95.4%, Specificity: 99.7%
  • HRV: Accuracy: 99.2% Sensitivity: 92.4%, Specificity: 99.7%
  • BOV: Accuracy: 99.6% Sensitivity: 98.0%, Specificity: 99.8%
  • BP: Accuracy: 99.4% Sensitivity: 96.2%, Specificity: 99.6%

This test has result windows, each showing test results for different respiratory viruses or bacteria: Look for the lines next to the 'C', 'A', 'B', 'N', 'T1' to ' T9'. Use the information in the box below to interpret the lines.

N - COV: SARS-CoV-2

A - FLU A: Influenza A

B - FLU B: Influenza B

T1 - RSV: Respiratory Syncytial Virus

T2 - ADV: Adenoviruses

T3 - PIV I & III: Parainfluenza Virus Type 1 and 3

T4 - PIV II: Parainfluenza Virus Type 2

T5 - MP: Mycoplasma Pneumoniae

T6 - HMPV: Human Metapneumovirus

T7 - HRV: Human Rhinovirus

T8 - BOV: Bordetella Pertussis

T9 - BP: Bordetella Pertussis

  • Negative Test Result: 'C' Line only
  • Positive Test Result: 'C' Line AND 'A', 'B', 'N', 'TI' to 'T9' Line
  • Invalid Test Result: If no 'C' line is seen, the test result is invalid even if you see 'A', 'B', 'N', 'T1' to 'T9' line(s).

This test cannot determine whether you are infected with COVID-19, Flu A&B, RSV, ADV, MP, PIV I&III, PIV II, HMPV, HRV, BOV and BP. If the test result is invalid, you should use a new swab to collect a fresh nasal sample and start a new test.

This test has detected antigens in your sample that may be associated with the following viruses and bacteria: COVID-19, Flu A&B, RSV, ADV, MP, PIV I&III, PIV II, HMPV, HRV, BOV and BP. You are likely infected with one or more of these viruses and may be contagious. Please contact your family doctor immediately and take appropriate action based on your test results, medical history, and symptoms.

This test did not detect antigens in your sample that are associated with the following viruses and pathogens: SARS-CoV-2, Influenza A, Influenza B, Respiratory Syncytial Virus, COVID-19, Flu A&B, RSV, ADV, MP, PIV I&III, PIV II, HMPV, HRV, BOV and BP. However, a negative test result does not rule out the possibility of infection with: COVID-19, Flu A&B, RSV, ADV, MP, PIV I&III, PIV II, HMPV, HRV, BOV and BP.

Human Bocavirus is a respiratory virus discovered in recent years and still relatively unfamiliar in clinical practice; some healthcare professionals and parents may not have heard of it. Research shows it is actually common, with some studies suggesting it may be the third most common respiratory virus. It is found mostly in young children and causes runny nose, cough, wheezing, and low‑grade fever similar to a cold or RSV; coinfections with other viruses are frequent. Recently, interest in BOV has been rising in medical research and public health as its role in seasonal respiratory infections and clusters becomes clearer. Most cases are self‑limiting; home care focuses on hydration, symptom control, and monitoring breathing. Seek medical care promptly if there is fast or difficult breathing, dehydration, or persistent high fever.

Bordetella pertussis is the bacterium that causes whooping cough and is highly contagious. It typically presents as weeks of spasmodic coughing, sometimes with post‑tussive vomiting and worse symptoms at night; adults and adolescents may not have the classic “whoop.” Early identification and appropriate treatment help shorten the infectious period, reduce spread to infants and older adults, and can lower the chance of long‑lasting cough. If suspected or confirmed, advise mask use, avoid close contact with infants temporarily, and follow local guidance for clinical evaluation, contact follow‑up, and necessary preventive measures.
